eHarmony Now Showing Last Active Date

Posted by:

File this one under “long over-due”: eHarmony will now start showing when your matches were last active on eHarmony (logged in).

I heard that this change would happening back in May but I’ve been waiting until I see this for myself to write on it. Unfortunately, only paying members are able to see the last active date. I’m not sure how I feel about that: eHarmony members are often more concerned with privacy but at the same time ...

Proximity-Based Dating: A Look at MeetMoi

Posted by:

I remember reading about devices in Japan that would alert you when you are near another single person who also had one of these devices. I read about this years and years ago (probably when I first started dating online in 2004) so I can’t remember all the details but I seem to remember that it was a totally separate device, not something that was a part of your cell phone. I also think there was some “hunting for each ...

eHarmony vs Chemistry.com: Which Service Is Better?

Posted by:

What is the difference between eHarmony and Chemistry.com? Is eHarmony better than Chemistry.com?

While the two services appear very similar, I will discuss what I consider the biggest difference between them. Then I’ll discuss some additional feature differences and why in some cases one of the two services may serve you better than the other.

10 Reasons You Should Consider Dating a Geek

Posted by:

You may find yourself dating online when you receive contact from someone you might label as a “geek”. Now, before you write this person off as not worth dating I think you should consider what geeks bring to a relationship. As I’ll be discussing in this article, while geeks fail to bring the social status important to many people, what they offer in replace of that makes them well worth your consideration.

None of the reasons I will be discussing are ...

How to Seduce Women

Posted by:

In this one phrase, “How to seduce a woman”, I believe many men are led down the wrong path when looking for companionship. I am convinced this is a very disappointing statement for anyone who has found their way here looking to have this question answered. However, I would ask that you give me just a few minutes of your time to explain my case before you insist on continuing your quest to have this secret revealed. Allow me to ...

Twitter To Replace Dating Services?

Posted by:

This article asks the question: Can Twitter replace online dating sites? My first thought to this prior to reading the article was: weren’t people asking this same question about MySpace a few years ago? As I had mentioned back then, people also meet in grocery stores but that doesn’t mean grocery stores are going to replace bars, clubs or singles events. And so my first thought to this question was a resounding “No”.

10 Tips on Taking Dating Advice

Posted by:

This is the second part of my discussion regarding online dating advice. You can find more of my thoughts behind this in the first post, on why some dating advice can be more harmful than helpful.

1. Easy Answers
In many cases there is no easy answer. The people who are selling easy answers often believe the answers are easy…even though they’re not. Their personal experience of having an easy time with a problem gives them a very wrong impression ...

Dating Advice Can Be Depressing

Posted by:

There is a lot of dating advice out there and much of it tries to make your dating problems sound as if they are the easiest thing to solve in the world. Recently I was shown a video of a very handsome man giving dating advice on how everyone should just “get over” rejection. By looking at him it became clear that he had done most of the rejecting in his dating life (he made comments that further strengthened this ...

iPad Looks Great But I Still Love My Kindle

Posted by:

With the release of the iPad today, I thought I would write about how much I love the Kindle 2. Everywhere I go online today I see the majority of people blogging or twittering about how the Kindle has all but been replaced. Really, any time Apple releases a new product the hype can get pretty crazy (and with a track-record like theirs it’s no surprise).

Now that I’ve seen the iPad, I suspect that Amazon’s first thought on seeing ...

Remembering to Share the Conversation

Posted by:

In my last post, I discussed ways to break your way into the conversation even if your date doesn’t ask you any questions. Today, I wanted to discuss this same issue but from the other side: remembering to share the conversation.

Sometimes people are simply too excited on a date and the result is that they talk about themselves the entire night. Another thing that happens with online dating is some people, particularly men, will research ways to keep the ...

Dating Site Review: CatholicMatch.com

Posted by:

Recently I’ve been writing about how niche dating sites can offer more success than the big dating sites simply because the service has already narrowed down its members to those with the single quality most important to you. Because I’ve been offering this advice, I wanted to review some niche sites and I’m starting with CatholicMatch.com.

Look and Feel
My first impression when visiting the site was the beautiful photography ...

Learning to Love Online Dating

Posted by:

Many people I speak with about dating have what I consider to be the standard outlook in regards to online dating: that it is a necessary evil. This approach is one that says online dating is something that must be done. A means to an end and nothing more. I started dating with this mentality and I think this approach is what adds so much frustration to the process.

This approach says that every date is either a failure or success. ...
