Online dating apps

Posted by:

In my online dating quest, I’ve decided maybe I should move into today’s method of technology-based or phone-based dating. Apps seem to be what all the cool kids are doing. Now I know some of them are based on hookups scenarios. I would say if that is what you are looking for there is an app for that. Otherwise, I found that many of them do have people that are serious about finding someone to share their life with, so ...

What’s better a paid or unpaid dating site?

Posted by:

I’ve recently moved from unpaid to a pay dating site. I can’t sit here and tell you that there are massive differences in how the services work. What I can say is that the people on the paid sites seem to be more invested. That’s not to say everyone that I encountered on an unpaid dating site was not invested but it felt harder.
Things are similar as far as setting up your profile but to me, a paid site is ...

Trouble deleting your online dating Profile

Posted by:

As of late, I’ve decided to move from a non-paying site to a paid site. Needless to say, I wanted to delete my old accounts from free online dating sites. I’d rather focus on a new approach with a paid site, although that doesn’t mean I think free sites are “bad”. However, I’ve read the horror stories about getting incorrect charges or autorenewals when using a paid dating service. That is, people complain that the dating sites are still charging ...

Help! I’ve Been Incorrectly Charged for a Dating Subscription

Bad online dating charges

From time to time I get emails from readers who have been incorrectly charged from an online dating service. This generally occurs in one of two ways:

  1. The person never subscribed to the service and is totally caught off guard by the charge. In most cases this is some type of fraudulent charge (for example, ...

Match.com vs eHarmony: Which is the Best Dating Service?

Posted by:

Match.com vs eHarmony – is one significantly better than the other? In my previous articles I discussed Match.com in great detail and then I did the same with eHarmony. In this article I will look at Match.com vs eHarmony, comparing the two services and make recommendations on which would be the best based on certain situations. Match.com and eHarmony are obviously similar in their goal: to help you find a great relationship. However, they ...

Group Dating: Another Way To Date Online

Posted by:

Something that’s been around for a while (especially in Japan) but that I’ve only heard about recently is something called group dating. This works exactly like it sounds it would: a group of single men go out on a date with an equal number of single women.

In many ways, this is something that happens naturally at times but in this case it will be planned. As an example, there are plenty of times where a ...

Getting Out of a Bad Date

Posted by:

As I discuss in my online dating guide, I think it’s best to be prepared for the worst when going on a first date. By no means did all of my online first dates go bad (many went great) but there were more than a few that I expected to go well that went horribly. As I’ve suggested, I think the best approach is to tell the person you’ll be meeting that you will only ...

OKCupid Dating Guide – Review of the Best Free Dating Around

Posted by:

I’ve been bothered lately by Plenty of Fish. I don’t mind that the site has been successful but I do hate when I talk to someone and they say, “Yeah, I tried online dating at Plenty of Fish. I guess internet dating just isn’t for me. The problems were [insert a list of issues here]”.

Here’s the thing: in my opinion Plenty of Fish is a far better example of successful internet marketing ...

Online Dating Services with a Different Approach

Posted by:

Recently I was reading a TechCrunch article about the online dating services that are taking a different approach. There were two dating sites listed in the article that I was familiar with: Engage.com and GreatBoyFriends.com.

I had read about Engage.com a few weeks ago and was interested by the idea. The service provides what might be called traditional online dating with additional twists to make the site more of a community. In particular, people can use the site for ...

A Great Idea for Online Dating

Posted by:

In my guide, I stress the importance of meeting anyone you are talking to online sooner rather than later. I make this recommendation based on the fact that I found my impressions that were created from talking to someone through email or on the phone were often very (very) wrong. In these cases, within the first few minutes of the date I would realize my mistake. In my opinion, actually meeting the person you are talking quickly to is ...
