Many people I speak with about dating have what I consider to be the standard outlook in regards to online dating: that it is a necessary evil. I was discussing online dating with a friend recently and she explained how she has twice ended an online dating relationship with men due to the fact that they didn’t even offer to pay for her on the first date. eHarmony is very committed to their matching system. The site takes the approach that it would be better to give its members no matches than to give them bad matches. eHarmony will even reject applicants that they feel they can’t provide adequate matches to. In some ways, it’s good to see eHarmony being so honest but it does cause problems. If you’re not getting any matches, a number of things could be happening.

Some people think about dating online but put it off because they want to improve something about themselves before they start. I don’t have any statistics but I think it’s safe to assume the number one reason for this is to attempt to lose weight. Do I believe this is a good idea? Should a person lose weight before subjecting themselves to online dating?
