Lavalife Introduces A Free Email Weekend

This weekend, for the first time ever, Lavalife is having a free email weekend. Normally the service is free to sign up for and browse other users, just like almost every other dating site of this type. However, this weekend everyone will also be able to email other members for free.
This practice is common for both eHarmony and Chemistry.com and in some ways it makes more sense from a business point of view for these services to offer free weekends. Since they control the number of “matches” you get, they can limit the free weekends to a certain amount. Lavalife on the other hand lets you browse all the users so people could try to abuse the free weekend by contacting as many people as possible, providing their personal email account in the process to try to continue the communication outside of the service. Still, it appears that Lavalife is willing to accept this risk.
I apologize for getting this out so late. I normally have more of a notice for promotions like this. There is a plus side though: it appears that Lavalife is running this promotion until Monday at midnight so you can get a few full days out of this even now.
