eHarmony is having a “mystery offer” which is offering people who sign up the chance to get up to 50% off of a subscription. This Mystery Offer Weekend is running from May 1st to May 4th, 2015. This promotion is available for eHarmony in the US and Canada.

An Alternative to Free Weekends?

This promotion appears to be an alternative to the eHarmony free weekends, or at the very least it has similar timing. Since this is the first time I’m seeing this, I’m not even 100% sure how the mystery offer works.

If I had to guess, I’d say that when you create your free account you get the opportunity to get a coupon and the value of that will range anywhere up to 50%. It’s not clear if you could use that savings on any subscription type nor do I know how they’ll determine what discount you’ll get. Perhaps it will be totally random.

Personally, I hope eHarmony uses this type of promotion in addition to the free weekends, as opposed to replacing the free weekends. I imagine some people will prefer this new option of getting to subscribe to the service at a discounted rate. However, I think that the free weekends are important because they give people who have never tried eHarmony a chance to see how it works. Many of the best features, such as the communication process, can only be tried when you subscribe or on free weekends.

And since this is the first time I’m seeing this promotion, I could be wrong on anything above. Maybe they still give away free time over the weekend. It doesn’t appear that way but a “mystery offer” does leave some mystery to what is involved. If anyone gives this a try and wants to leave a comment for others, it would be appreciated I’m sure!
